For those who love fantasy and high adventure, Techromancy Scrolls: Soras is a must read. This is the second in the series and reconnecting with well known and loved characters was a wonderful thing. I should start this by saying That this author rocks.
If you have not read the first book in the series, GET IT. Eric continues this fantastic story in book 2 of the Techromancy series, Thank Heaven. I am now counting down the days until October.
Thank you Eric, I have been hanging on patiently waiting for the second installment and you did not disappoint.
I really enjoyed this second half of the Techromancer series. Laney is coming into her own, though she does so at a great price to her well being,. Celeste holds her own as well and I am happy to see that like in Music of the Souls, beauty and love lie in the eye of the beholder and Celeste proves that as she continues to embrace Laney who acquires more scars with every adventure she joins. Am anxiously awaiting the next installment.
I am a big fan of Eric's work and this is no different. Eric does an awesome job of writing a sweet love story with awesome action and pure love for his characters. His writing of the women in this book is awesome, he has a way to make the main characters radiate love and commitment.
I will continue to read ALL of his books and look forward to each one that comes out.
The story telling in the book is good. There are some issues though... one problem is internal consistency. I noted a couple times within the book that something would be described one way and then later in the same book or the second book it would be described differently. The depth of the characters in the books is somewhat limited. A decent light read but it cannot take very much examination. The author might consider using a few more test readers and polishing just a bit more, editing just a bit more. Nice books but the negatives detract from what could be solid 4 star works to be slightly below 3 stars.
I've been waiting for this book and I was not disappointed! The thing that I love most about the author is his unique ability to create worlds that feel both substantial and lived in. They are so well thought out that they allow the reader to step right in and feel at home, and the Techromancy Scrolls universe does just that.
Each location not only helps to tell the story but helps to further immerse you into the lives of the characters. One of my favorites was getting to experience the gypsy camp and learning more about their culture. So much fun! As well as getting to reconnect with all of our favorite characters from the first book.
Overall I truly enjoyed it and highly recommend that you add both it and Techromancy Scrolls Adept to your reading list.
I went back and reread the first book before I started this one. I read both in less than 24 hours. I absolutely loved this book. I love the world that Erik had built for these stories. It feels like I'm reading a mix between some role playing game and a novel but I actually feel like I live in the story. The characters have so many different nuances it is amazing, even the supporting characters. I absolutely can't wait for the next story in this world.
The exact same issues as the first book in the series. Laney and Celeste are never alone. NEVER! Does a book really need this many different characters? Very few of them are important to the story. Needs editing. Since when does Celeste ride a horse named Shadow? I did like the story being centered on the Gypsies. They are by far more interesting then the knights. And if Celeste is such a great knight why does she never arrive in time to save Laney? The girl has been French fried, lashed on the back with electric whips, beaten by a gypsy while Celeste looked on, choked almost to death, and she does NOTHING! What a great knight she is, huh? Overall disappointing as the first. I will end the series with this book as it shows no promise of getting better. Sorry I wasted money when I could have bought a different book that was actually edited.
